Having worked from Leicester to Eastleigh the previous day, GBRf Class 57/3s No. 57310 'UK Railtours', No.57305, and No. 57306 'Branchline Society' collected the Network Rail RHTT wagons from Eastleigh Yard before continuing west to Somerset, captured. 18th September 2026 Taunton-based ZZA snow ploughs ADB 965240 & ADB 965217 were out on their annual test run on Friday 18th September 2026. This year Colas Rail Freight produced the unusual pairing of No. 67023 'Stella' ‘Operations Response – Thunderbird’ with No. 66849 'Wylam Dilly' for the task. 17th September 2026 GBRf Class 66/7 No. 66716 'Locomotive & Carriage Institution Centenary 1911-2011' operates the first MOD train through Taunton in decades on Thursday 17th September 2026. The GBRf Class 66 arrived into Fairwater Yard late on Monday 14th September. Several days were spent loading containers from Norton Manor Camp before the train departed on Thursday as 6Z00 12:23 Fairwater Yard - Carlisle Yard (with a continued path to Mossend Yard, before returning to MOD Kineton). 5th September 2026 BR Blue Class 50 No. 50050 'Fearless' (D400) shatters the peace as it powers through Creech St Michael on Saturday 5th September 2026. The LSL locomotive made its debut on Saphos Trains 'English Riviera Express ', returning the loco to its former stomping ground when formerly in British Rail service. No. 50050 'Fearless' and No.57302 operated in top and tail formation hauling 1Z07 06:35 Poole - Kingswear. The Class 57 led the train from Poole, but with a reversal at Westbury, the Class 50 led the train to Taunton. Upon arrival at Taunton, the Class 50 was removed and replaced with LNER A4 Pacific No. 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' for the steam leg through to Kingswear. (Photo: Brian Garrett)

22nd August 2026 Despite the recent small amount of rain which has fallen in the last week, the linside vegitation continues to grow unanbated, and a steam ban remains in place. Saphos Trains continued to operate their 'English Riviera Express' charters with Heritage Diesel traction throughout. 7th August 2026 GBRf operated The Britannic Explorer on Friday 7th August 2026. No. 66744 'Heart of Wales' and No. 66748 'St Michaels Mount' operated in top and tail formation as 1V01 15:48 London Victoria - Bishops Lydeard. For the first time, the GBRf-liveried locomotive led the luxury train west, with the Britannic Explorer locomotive on the rear. 1st August 2026 GWR 'Pride'/ 'Trainbow' IET No. 800008 'Alan Turing OBE' was operating 2C67 07:58 Cardiff Central - Exeter St Davids service on Saturday 1st August 2026. The five-car Hitachi IET unit is amed after WWII codebreaker Alan Turing, the colorful livery celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and features a complex hidden cryptographic puzzle on the side of the train.
