31st July 2025 Having been in warm store on the West Somerset Railway since September 2023, another goodbye took place on the 31st July 2025. No. 43155 'Rougemont Castle' and No. 43154 'Compton Castle' departed the line (now sold to West Coast Railways), for pastures new. The pair operated as 5Z43 10:11 Bishops Lydeard - Carnforth Steamtown, but ran into issues at Taunton Station with a GSMR fault. The train was then set back onto the relief lines alongside Fairwater Yard while the fault was fixed. The fully de-branded set finally departed at 11:32 running 64 minutes late for a new future with West Coast Railways. (Photo: Paul Clarke)
