GWR 4-6-0 'Castle' No. 7029 'Clun Castle' powers through Creech St Michael on Saturday 11th May 2024 operating Vintage Trains 'The Great Western Railway (1Z48)' commemoration charter. No. 7029 'Clun Castle' operated 1Z48 09:31 Plymouth - Bristol Temple Meads. Sadly the loco came to a stand on Hemerdon requiring assistance from support locomotive No.47773 which was brought to the train and coupled to the rear. The loco experienced no other issues on route and managed to get a 26 minute defecate down to 5 minutes between Hemerdon and Taunton.

Ex-GWR ‘Castle’ Class 4-6-0 No. 7029 'Clun Castle' emerges from Whiteball Tunnel onto Wellington Bank, where speed records have previously been set. The loco was hauling Vintage Trains ’The Great Western; charter 1Z48 09:31 Plymouth to Bristol Temple Meads on 11th May 2024. The tour marked 60 years since ‘Clun Castle’ achieved the then fastest ever run from Plymouth to Bristol. The tour had worked into Devon the previous day, and later continued to London Paddington, where No. 7029 'Clun Castle' would return for the first time since 1965. This was also the first tour to feature a former Great Western steam locomotive west of Taunton since 2014. Sadly the famous tunnel portal of Whiteball Tunnel is almost totally obscured by vegetation.
