Operating 'The Cogload Climber' charter, Hastings DEMU set passes Stoke St Gregory on the 6th April 2024 operating 1Z14 06:30 Hastings - Exeter Central. After a break at Exeter the charter later returned to Hastings via the Southern route via Salisbury, Southampton and Eastleigh and London Waterloo before heading onwards to Hastings.

The popular and unique Hastings DEMU passed Taunton on the 6th April 2024 operating far from its normal thumping ground. Known as 'Thumpers' due to the noise they make, the unit passes Norton Fitzwarren on the 6th April 2024 operating 1Z14 06:30 Hastings - Exeter Central. 'The Cogload Climber' charter was running 20 minutes early due to operating on a strike day when no other trains were operating to slow it down.

Saturday 6th April 2024 saw the return of the preserved Hastings DEMU to the Taunton area when it passed through with ‘The Cogload Climber’ charter, the 1Z14 06:30 Hastings to Exeter Central. The Class 201 is captured at Whiteball with DMBS No. 60118 'Tunbridge Wells' leading while No. 60116 'St Leonards' with 60119 tucked inside are working the rear. The tour returned to Sussex via the West of England main line routing via Honiton, junctions Chard & Yeovil for Salisbury.
