12th January 2013 Taunton Station was visited by DRS Class 37 locomotives during the early hours of the 12th January 2013. DRS Class 37s Nos.37603 and No.37607 worked Network Rail's UTU1 (Ultrasonic Test Train) from Bristol to Exeter pausing at Taunton at 00:50 before returning north to Newport Hereford – Crewe & Derby. The train started off the week with DRS Class 37/4 No.37423 working with a DBSO but both failed. UTU1 was then over by 603 & 607 from Thursday night.
