24th June 2023 It has been 38 years since 'Clun Castle' last visited Taunton when the locomotive took part in the GWR150 celebrations, and it has also been nine years since the last GWR 'Castle' steam locomotive visited Taunton. Saturday the 24th June 2023 reset both of those statistics with the visit of Vintage Trains charter 'The Whistling Ghost'. No. 7029 'Clun Castle' is pictured passing Creech St Michael while operating 1Z10 06:08 Birmingham Snow Hill - Bishops Lydeard. Upon arrival at Bishops Lydeard the locomotive was removed from the train for servicing and turning, while two West Somerset Railway 'Manors' No. 7828 'Odney Manor' and No. 7812 'Erlestoke Manor' took passengers forward to Minehead.
