10th February 2014
Following the completion of engineering works inside Whiteball Tunnel, one of the first freight trains to pass through from Exeter after the reopening was on the 10th February 2014. Colas Rail Freight Class 66/8 No.66846 has operated light engine from Westbury before collecting a rake of loaded JNA 'Falcon' wagons from Exeter Riverside Yard. Upon collecting the wagon from Exeter the loco operated as 6Z29 10:55 Exeter Riverside - Westbury. It was also able to travel via the Somerset Levels to Westbury after water levels had dropped allowing freight trains to pass through the flooded area. No.66846 is pictured climbing Whiteball Bank passing Eastbrook.
