You could be forgiven for thinking this is perhaps a special excursion train on a branch line outing, not an Express Passenger train on a mainline passenger service between London and Cornwall. On the 24th August 2018 No.43186 and No.43144 pass between the tree lined shaped corridor on the approach to Whiteball Tunnel while working the 1C74 09:03 London Paddington - Newquay. Tinges of browns are now visible on the leaves at Whiteball, it's only a matter of time before leaves begin to fall. The down line does not get treated until gone 12pm each weekday in the Autumn with the Rail Head Treatment Train. This was the last train to pass through Whiteball Tunnel prior to the mainline being shut after reports of falling masonry from the tunnel. The line was closed while safety checks could be carried out.
