The Flying Scotsman returned to the West Country on Saturday 19th September 2026. LNER A3 No. 60103 'Flying Scotsman' looking resplendent in BR Green. The famous locomotive is captured at Fordgate with the Fox & Edwards 1Z41 10:57 Bristol Temple Meads to Minehead. The initial leg of the Fox and Edwards ‘Bristol & Minehead’ charter suffered significant delay between Birmingham and Cheltenham due to signal failure. This caused a deficit of 84 minutes on the schedule, which was reduced to just 22 minutes on departure from Bristol, and further reduced to four minutes on passing Bridgwater. Unfortunately, further delay was incurred due to another signalling/track problem between Bridgwater and Cogload Junction, causing an additional 13 minutes of lost time to the schedule. Class 37/0 No.37240 was trailing on the rear of the train, which would provide assistance with the return run on the West Somerset Railway.
