SR 'Merchant Navy' Class 4-6-2 No. 35028 'Clan Line' heads the first Torbay Express charter of the 2018 season on Sunday, May 3rd. Having departed Bristol Temple Meads 36 minutes late the 1Z27 08:00 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear had regained 30 minutes of lost time upon arrival at Taunton and by Whiteball Summit where we see it here it was running 2 minutes ahead of schedule.

Peppercorn A1 Class 4-6-2 No. 60163 'Tornado' 'Tornado' departs Taunton in vociferous style at the head of 1Z27 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear via Bath & Westbury on Sunday 10th September 2017, hauling the 'Torbay Express'. This was by far one of the best departures of Tornado from Taunton which has been seen in recent years, an incredible show of power.

Peppercorn A1 Class 4-6-2 No. 60163 'Tornado' 'Tornado' is pictured passing Bathpool as it approaches Taunton with the 'Torbay Express' on Sunday 10th September 2017 as the 1Z27 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear (for Dartmouth) via Bath & Westbury.

Sunday 3rd September 2017 saw The Torbay Express pass through Taunton hauled by Ex- SR Merchant Navy Class No. 35028 'Clan Line' 'Clan Line'. The train gets underway from a very wet Taunton after water stop passing 40 Steps hauling the 1Z27 09:16 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear.

Ex-Southern Region Merchant Navy Class 8P 4-6-2 No 35028 negotiates Cogload Junction at the head of 1Z27 08:08 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear via Westbury, on Sunday 20th August 2017 while operating The Torbay Express charter.

LNER A1 Pacific No. 60163 'Tornado' ‘Tornado' visited the South West on Sunday 23rd July 2017 with one of the popular ‘Torbay Express' charters. The steam locomotive is pictured in the evening light at Cogload Junction returning north hauling the 1Z28 17:50 Kingswear – Bristol Temple Meads

Sunday 23rd July 2017 saw the 'Torbay Express' operate under inclement summer weather conditions. LNER A1 No. 60163 'Tornado' 'Tornado' rounds the curve at the end of Silk Mills yard heading for Norton Fitzwarren as the train speeds south for a day on the rather damp Cornish Riviera, whilst en route with 1Z27 09:10 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear.

Sunday 23rd July 2017 saw the 'Torbay Express' operate under inclement summer weather conditions. LNER A1 No. 60163 'Tornado' 'Tornado' departs from Taunton on completion of the booked water stop whilst en route with 1Z27 09:10 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear as the heavy showers pass through.

2nd July 2017
Torbay Express passengers were again left without a steam locomotive to haul their train to Kingswear on Sunday 2nd July 2017. Booked LNER A1 Pacific No. 60163 'Tornado' 'Tornado' was not able to operate the train and was replaced by a DB Cargo Class 66 No.66177. The unique experimental white roof Class 66 is pictured passing Allerford near Victory Crossing hauling the 1Z27 08:00 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear service.

GWR 4-6-0 'King' No. 6024 'King Edward I' departs from Taunton Station on the 6th December 2009 while working 'The Torbay Express' charter from Bristol Temple Meads through to Kingswear.

The 2nd September 2007 saw Pathfinder Tours use a pair of EWS liveried Class 37s to haul 'The Torbay Express' charter from Bristol to Kingswear. The charter was originally booked to hauled by steam locomotive No. 6024 'King Edward I' but this loco was unavailable due to a piston rod problems. No.37410 and No.37417 pass Creech St Michael working the 1Z27 Bristol Temple Meads - Kingswear charter.
