A rare Type 5 double header made an unusual appearance on the Exeter stones on Tuesday 7th Super powder was employed on the Exeter Riverside Aggregate turn on the 7th August 2018. EWS liveried Class 66s No.66059 and No.66014 made an unusual appearance on the Exeter Riverside Aggregate flow, the return empties are pictured crossing the Somerset Levels at Oath working 6C28 13:44 Exeter Riverside to Whatley Quarry.

GWR Green powercar No.43005 leads a First Great Western liveried rake of Mk3s over The Somerset Levels at Wick (near Oath) with partner powercar No.43129 on Saturday 16th June 2018 working the 1C89 17:03 London Paddington - Plymouth service.

A mixed rake HST set crosses the Somerset Levels at Wick (located to the east of Oath) on Saturday 16th June 2018. No.43009 leads partner No.43182 working the 1A92 17:00 Paignton - London Paddington service.

Ex-SR Merchant Navy Class 4-6-2 No. 35028 'Clan Line' visited Somerset on Saturday 26th May 2018 with UK Railtours 'The Quantock Intruder' steam charter. The locomotive sweeps around the Somerset Level curves at Oath hauling the 1Z26 08:05 London Paddington to Minehead charter. The tour was returned to London by DB Cargo Class 67 No.67016 with the steam locomotive then staying on the line until Tuesday 29th when it departed to the GWR operated St Philips Marsh in Bristol.

Sunday 29th April 2018. Pullman liveried No.67021 & No.67024 'top & tail' the 1Z83 12:15 Truro - London Victoria, captured crossing the Somerset levels at Oath. Initially this working was double-headed as far as Taunton where upon on arrival 67024 was run round to the rear of the train before continuing on to the Capital.

The centre mechanical section of the Network Rail High Output Ballast Cleaner (the RM900RT ballast cleaning machine) departed Fairwater Yard on Easter Monday 2nd April 2018. Freightliner provided the transport with powerhaul liveried Class 66 No.66504 hauling the machine. The locomotive is pictured crossing the Somerset Levels at Oath working the 6Y15 12:53 Fairwater Yard - Crewe.

In stunning Winter sunlight but freezing cold conditions, Colas Rail Freight Class 70 No.70816 crosses the Somerset Levels at Wick (near Oath) heading east bound on Sunday 25th February hauling the 6C97 08:45 Dawlish Warren - Hinksey Yard empty CWR set.

Freightliner Powerhaul liveried Class 66/5 No. 66528 'Madge Elliot MBE Borders Railway Opening 2015' passes Oath on the 14th January 2018 while working the 6Y15 08:15 Reading West Junction - Fairwater Yard. The locomotive was returning the Network Rail HOBC set to Taunton after overnight ballast cleaning on the Great Western Mainline. On the rear of the set (out of sight) was Class 66 No. 66501 'Japan 2001'.

Weekend engineering work in Devon saw a selection of engineers trains returning to Westbury on Sunday 14th January. Class 70 No.70814 leads the 6C31 07:40 Hemerdon - Westbury east bound through Oath with classmate No.70809 trailing on the rear.
