Colas Rail Freight Class 37 No.37219 makes a colourful sight in the Autumn scene at Creech St Michael on Sunday 11th November 2018. The locomotive is seen pushing the 3Z08 12:55 Exeter Riverside - Derby RTC Network Rail test train through Creech St Michael. With DBSO 9703 leads the train towards Cogload Junction.

Freightliner Class 66/5 No.66544 exits from Fairwater Yard on Thursday 2nd August 2018 operating the 6Y15 20:30 Fairwater Yard - Newton Abbot hauling the Network Rail HOBC set away from Taunton. Out of slight on the rear of the set was No.66517.

Colas Rail Freight Class 67s No. 67023 'Sheila' and No. 67027 'Charlotte' in 'top and tail' stood in for the Network Rail New Measurement Train on Friday 29th Jun while it was out of service. The Colas Class 67s were formed up with test coaches 975091, 72631, 977997 and 9481. No. 67023 'Sheila' leads the 1Z18 15:46 Paignton - Taunton (via Bristol Temple Meads) test diagram over Cogload Junction running 12 minutes ahead of schedule. Upon arrival at Taunton, the pair terminated to form the last leg of its test diagram back to London Paddington.

Colas Rail Freight Class 37 No.37219 passes 40 Steps on Sunday 10th June 2018 working the 3Z08 09:02 Exeter Riverside - Derby RTC test train for Network Rail. The test train was formed of coaching stock 9523, 996666, 72630, 62384 and DBSO Driving Trailer No.9701. The locomotive had previously operated a test train down during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Passengers waiting for Pathfinder Tours 'Peak District Explorer Charter on Saturday 9th June 2018 were treated to some early morning English Electric noise by means of the 3Q06 17:43 Derby RTC to Riverside. No.37219 is seen pushing the Network Rail test train westbound through Taunton. The train from formed of DBSO 9701, leading and test coaches 62384, 72630, 99666, 9523.

Former DRS Class 37/6 No.37612 is now owned by HNRC. The locomotive is seen gathering speed at Norton Fitzwarren after a pathing stop on the down relief at Fairwater Yard on Wednesday 23rd May 2018. The locomotive had been hired by Colas Rail Freight to haul a Network Rail Test Train. The 3Z08 13:07 Derby RTC - Exeter Riverside powers through Norton Fitzwarren.

The Network Rail Class 150/1 converted Sprinter numbered No.950001 was in the West Country for a series of track recording trips on the week commencing 23rd April. The specially converted unit which was built in 1987 is one of the most advanced track recording units in the United Kingdom and travels to far flung parts of the UK rail network each week. The unit is pictured passing Norton Fitzwarren working the 2Q08 04:16 Truro Yard - Derby RTC diagram on Thursday 26th April 2018.

Network Rail MPV No.DR98908 and No.DR98958 pass Creech St Michael on Monday 16th April 2018 working the 6Z05 09:48 Kings Norton - St Blazey move in preparation for the annual weed-killing operations around the branch-lines and mainlines of the South West. The Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) is specially adapted for these duties which were once carried out by a dedicated train top and tailed by a pair of Hunslet Barclay Class 20's.

The Network Rail New Measurement Train arrives into Taunton on the Friday 6th April 2018 with powercar No. 43014 'The Railway Observer' leading No.43013 working the 1Z18 15:46 Paignton - Taunton track testing run. The diagram means the HST also passed through Taunton at 16:56 heading to Bristol before returning to Taunton, and then forming its last diagram of the day to London Paddington.

Former British Rail 'Laira Blue' Class 50 No. 50008 'Thunderer' passes the western end of Fairwater Yard while operating the 4Z03 08:00 Derby RTC - Okeheampton hauling Network Rail Lorum Rail Grinder DR79501, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06 & 07 for staff training. The Grinder will remain on site at Okehampton for staff training and the Class 50 is booked to return north during Saturday 6th January 2018.

An English Electric Class 50 made a rousing and welcome appearance at Taunton Friday 5th January. 'Laira Blue Class 50 No. 50008 'Thunderer' scatters the pidgeons as it passes through Taunton station working 4Z03 08:00 Derby RTC - Okeheampton with Network Rail Lorum Railgrinder DR79501, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06 & 07 in tow. The ensemble is pictured passing 40 Steps, Taunton heading for Exeter where the locomotive then ran round its consist before heading for Okehampton. The Lorum Grinder will be used for training Netowkr Rail staff on the Okehampton branch. After an overnight stay in Exeter the former British Rail Class 50 is booked to return light engine to Derby on Saturday 6th January.
