Images from the Modern Image Slide Collection. We have been very fortunate to obtain several images taken at Taunton from the Mordern Image Slide collection. With their permission we have been able to host these images on the website.

16th July 1978
On the 16th July 1978 a BR Blue Class 46 No.46007 is seen stabled amongst the semaphore signals at the east end of Taunton Station. 46007 was cut up in July 1985.

31st December 1975
BR Blue Western No. D1036 'Western Emperor' departs from Taunton on the 31st December 1975 working the 1B55 12:30 London Paddington - Paignton passenger service.

7th September 1973
Class 46 No.46056 (D193) arrives into Taunton hauling the 1V82 08:10 Newcastle - Penzance service on the 7th September 1973

30th September 1972
BR Class 25 No.5202 (renumbered to 25072 in February 1972) is seen stabled at Taunton on the 30th September 1972. The loco remained in Traffic until October 1980 when it was withdrawn from service at Swindon. It was then cut up by November of the same year.

3rd September 1972
BR Class 25 No.5227 is seen stabled at Taunton on the 3rd September 1972. The loco was renumbered to 25077 in 1974 and survived in traffic until 1978 before she was cut up.

29th April 1972
On the 29th April 1972 BR two tone green Class 47 No.D1933 passes through the centre road at Taunton with a lengthy rake of clay slurry tanks in tow. The Class 47 went on to lead a long life, becoming 47255, 47596 & 47740 in its lifetime. The loco now enjoys retirement at 47596 based on the Mid Norfolk Railway and is currently painted in one of the Stratford Blue schemes.This image was located via Ebay and is part of the Modern Image Slides collections.

BR Class 25 No.5213 is seen stabled at Taunton in August 1973. The loco was renumbered to 25063 under the BR Tops System in February 1974, and was finally withdrawn from traffic in May 1980 at Swindon. The loco survived a further three years until it was cut up in May 1983.
