In 1989 the transition change from BR Blue and Grey to the first version of Intercity livery was still in full flow, here a cross country service (probably from Plymouth) is seen heading north at Cogload Junction. 253009 was formed of powercars 43019 and 43018.

This superb image shows a summer service at Taunton in 1989. Intercity liveried Class 47 No.47609 'Fire Fly' arrives into Taunton with passengers ready for their holiday travels. A classic 1980's scene, although the young lad in the sombrero is probably a little over optimistic on his destination and the weather!
