27th May 2018
The Northern Belle dining train paid a brief visit to Taunton on the 27th May 2018. The train which was previously hauled by Direct Rail Services is now in the hands of West Coast Railways. Two Class 57 locomotives operated the train with No.57601 leading the 1Z30 11:05 Bromsgrove - Taunton running via Westbury. Once at Taunton the train reversed with No.57313 taking the lead to form the 1Z31 14:35 Taunton - Bromsgorve leg of the trip. The train is pictured passing Durston on the return leg of the high class dining trip.

17th April 2018
GWR have resumed testing with their IET Class 800's sending them back to Taunton on testing diagrams, one such working was captured on Tuesday 17th April. No. 800004 'Isambard Kingdom Brunel / Sir Daniel Gooch' passes Durston on the approaches to Taunton while working the 5Z19 09:33 North Pole IEP - Taunton. The set had worked to Bristol Temple Meads with partner test unit No. 800003 'Queen Elizabeth II - Queen Victoria'.

28th March 2018
On Wednesday 28th March No.43127 and No.43145 followed working the second of two off lease movements in the same week. The former set LA10 (all de-branded) is pictured passing Durston. The train was formed of coaches: 42288 44024 41134 42276 42576 42275 42277 41130 & 44032 working the 5Z43 10:15 Laira - St Philips Marsh.

28th March 2018
The 4E18 09:47 Fairwater Yard - Doncaster Wood Yard was double headed on the 28th March 2018. Class 66/5 No. 66594 'NYK Spirit of Kyoto' and No.66538 hauled the used concrete sleepers all the way to Doncaster. At Doncaster the locomotive normally returns a new rake of fresh concrete sleepers back to Fairwater Yard late the next day. The pair are pictured passing Durston shortly after passing Cogload Junction.

23rd January 2018
Wearing former Firstgroup colours Class 166 No.166207 passes Durston near Cogload Junction on the 17th February 2018 while working the 9U22 14:57 Taunton - Newport stopping service. Even with Winter vegetation the extent of tree growth in the background completely obscures Cogload Junction from view.

2nd September 2007
The 2nd September 2007 saw Pathfinder Tours use a pair of EWS liveried Class 37s to haul 'The Torbay Express' charter from Bristol to Kingswear. The charter was originally booked to hauled by steam locomotive No. 6024 'King Edward I' but this loco was unavailable due to a piston rod problems. No.37410 and No.37417 pass Durston on the approach to Cogload Junction working the 1Z27 Bristol Temple Meads - Kingswear charter.

20th April 1988
Brunswick Green Class 47 No.47500 passes between Cogload Junction and Durston on the 20th April 1988 hauling the Royal Train. The locomotive was conveying Prince Charles back from Penzance after a visit to the Scilly Isles and unusually had used the Royal Train in both directions.
