GWR Class 153 No.153380 passes Creech St Michael on the 28th December 2017 working a class one diagram. The 1C45 13:19 Bristol Temple Meads - Exeter St Davids was booked to be three coaches but ended up being one due to a shortage of stock. The loanly unit is seen passing Creech St Michael.

GWR Class 150 No. 150261 'TheTarka Line - The First 25 Years 1989-2014' passes Creech St Michael on the 28th December 2017 while working the 2C75 11:59 Cardif Central - Taunton stopping service.

Direct Rail Services operated a light engine movement between their base at Crewe Gresty Bridge Depot and Plymouth on the 28th December 2017. No. 57303 'Pride of Carlisle' is seen leading No.37059 while working the 0Z63 09:35 Crewe Gresty Bridge - Plymouth diagram. The pair were being positioned in readiness to return a rake of stored Mk3 coaching stock from Laira Depot to Northern Trains on the 29th December. The rake of coaching stock was formerly operated by Virgin Trains (West Coast), painted in similar colours to their Pendolino EMU's. After use with Virgin the stock then found a new home with Anglia Railways until it was surplus to requirements and stored at Laira Depot pending a new operator. The stock will now be used as part of the new loco hauled diagrams with Northern Trains. The locomotives and stock are expected to return north on the 29th December 2017.

Class 800 IEP's No.800011 and No.800013 operated a GWR staff training run on the 4th November 2017 to train platform staff on the fitting of disabled ramps to the new trains. The pair of new IEP's are pictured passing Creech St Michael working the 5Z44 09:12 London Paddington - Taunton via Bristol Temple Meads. Having called at Taunton the sets then returned to London Paddington as the 5Z45 12:56 departure.

Friday 8th September 2017 provided another test run for the IEP fleet. This time set No.800006 operated the 5X30 14:03 London Paddington - Tiverton Loop and 5X31 17:36 Tiverton Loop to London Paddington services. The unit is seen working the latter diagram while passing Creech St Michael heading back to London Paddington.

Driver and crew training continued using Class 166's cascaded from the Thames Valley Routes ahead of their introudction onto locol passenger diagrams in the Taunton area. On Monday 14th August 2017 Class 166 No. 166204 'Norman Topsom MBE' operated the 5Z60 09:11 St Philips Marsh to Taunton diagram, it's pictured here passing Creech St Michael running 49 minutes behind booked schedule. The unit later returned with the 10:38 departure back to Bristol Temple Meads.

West Coast Railways Class 33 No. 33207 'Jim Martin' made a second appearance at Taunton in a week, by operating the same charter diagram it performed during the last week of July. On the 6th August 2017 the locomotive hauled the 1Z37 08:52 Bristol Temple Meads - Taunton leg of the 'Royal Duchy' charter. At Taunton the Class 33 was removed from the train and replaced by LMS Steam Locomotive No. 46100 'Royal Scot' 'Royal Scot' for the run to Par. Later the Class 33 was called upon to work down to Exeter St Davids as Royal Scot was running low on coal for the return trip. So passengers treated to a mainline run from Exeter with the veteran locomotive. The Class 33 is pictured storming through Creech St Michael on the morning run to Taunton.

Having spent the night out on the Great Western Mainline between Ruscombe and Reading relaying track, Network Rail's TRT returned to Taunton on Sunday 16th July. Freightliner Class 66/9 No.66952 hauls the 6X04 08:20 Reading West Junction - Fairwater Yard through Creech St Michael nearing Taunton.

Recreating scenes of over 25 years ago the sight of a British Rail 'Laira' Blue Class 50 in the village of Creech St Michael in 2017 on a revenue earning freight train twice in one month is unprecedented. Having already operated light engine to Exeter on Thursday 6th July 2017, BR Class 50 No. 50008 'Thunderer' 'Thunderer' proceeded to Okehampton where it collected the Network Rail Lorum Rail Grinder. The locomotive formed the 4Z01 08:30 Okehemapton to Cheddesden Sidings and is seen here passing the village of Creech St Michael on route north to Derby.

Colas Rail Freight recently purchased two Class 67 locomotives from DB Cargo for used on test trains, the pair No. 67027 'Charlotte'+67023 have been painted into Colas Rail Freight colours and named They have also received the names 'Charlotte' and 'Stella'. On the 30th June 2017 the pair stood in for the Network Rail New Measurement Train HST set which was out of service for maintenance. LMS Steam passed through the Taunton area on Saturday 17th June hauling Vintage Trains 'Whistling Ghost V' charter. Sadly the tour was held up in the Swindon area due to GWR service requiring attention from the Wiltshire Fire Brigade at Swindon. After being looped for a period of time while the incident ahead was dealt with the tour was finally able to get underway again. Running 62 minutes behind schedule LMS Pacific No. 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' 'Duchess of Sutherland' steams through Creech St Michael on route to Bishops Lydeard.

GWR heritage repaint powercar No.43002 'Sir Kenneth Grange' is now looking nicely weather worn on the front end of the powercar with the classic sweeping black marks above the cab window. On Saturday 17th June 2017 the powercar lead the 1C77 10:06 Paddington - Penzance service with powercar No.43148 on the rear of the set. The unique liveried HST powercar is seen passing Creech St Michael on the approaches to Taunton.

GWR have been transferring powercars between Plymouth and South Wales with some regularity of late. During Saturday 29th April No.43036 returned 'Building a Greater West' liveried powercar No.43146 back to Laira. 43146 being the powercar featured earlier this month on this page with some serious exhaust issues. The 0Z77 09:35 Landore - Laira movement is pictured passing Creech St Michael on the approach to Taunton.

BR Maroon Western No. D1015 'Western Champion' storms through Creech St Michael on the 23rd June 2007 working Pathfinder Railtours 'The Cornishman'. The 1Z52 06:05 Birmingham International - Penzance treated passengers to a non stop run through Taunton recorded at 88mph. The tour is pictured passing Creech St Michael in the dull early summer weather.

BR Blue Class 45 No. 45112 'Royal Army Ordnance Corps' 'The Royal Army Ordnance Corps' rounds the curve at Creech St Michael hauling Pathfinder Tours 'The Devonian' charter on the 22nd April 2006. The 1Z55 06:48 Derby - Kingswear also featured a Class 47/7 No.47703 from Taunton on the return leg of the trip double heading with the Class 45 due to issued with relays tripping on the locomotive.

12th March 2003
On the 12th March 2003 BR Blue Class 46 No.46035 rounds the bend at Creech St Michael hauling the 1Z66 Crewe - Newton Abbot. The loco was working a charter South to allow steam locomotive No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' Nunney Castle to then work north. 46035 was owned by Pete Waterman and often appeared on charters in the South West. Sadly this was one of the locomotives last operational runs before it was removed from mainline service pending a major overhaul.

BR Blue Class 45 No. 45112 'Royal Army Ordnance Corps' 'The Royal Army Ordnance Corps' passes Creech St Michael on the 21st July 2001 hauling the 1Z45 04:30 Lancaster - Penzance (Fragonset Charters) tour. Class 31 No. 31459 'Cerberus' was also located on the rear of the train. The Class 45 later failed on the return trip at Bristol where the Class 31 towed the train back to Crewe where the tour terminated.

24th February 1997
During February 1997 Westbury borrowed Class 47 No.47004 from Old Oak Common Depot to train their drivers on vacuum braked wagons. Several workings operated between Westbury and Exeter via Bristol and Castle Cary. On the 24th February 1997 Class 47 No.47004 is pictured passing Creech St Michael with one such working, conveying a rake of Tope wagons.

16th October 1993
On the 16th October 1993, BR Bunswick Green Class 50 No. 50007 'Hercules' and Network Southeast Liveried Class 50 No. 50033 'Glorious' pass through Creech St Michael at speed with an Intercity organised charter heading to the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway. The pair then joined classmates No.D400 No. 50042 'Triumph' and No. 50002 'Superb' for a running day on the PDSR before returning to London Paddington that evening with No. 50033 'Glorious' leading.
