Still carrying full First Great Western livery powercar No.43164 leads No.43162 at speed through the tree-lined avenue at Cogload Junction on the 20th May 2018. The 1C87 15:57 London Paddington - Plymouth service had just joined the Bristol mainline from the Berks and Hants route. The excessive tree growth at Cogload Junction is now reaching the point where Cogload Junction will soon be invisible to the camera, the signal which sets the route to either Bristol or Westbury is now completely obscured from view.

Too late the snow was in March! Thursday 9th May 2018 was full of excitement when a pair of Direct Rail Services Class 37's operated light engine overnight from their base at Crewe Gresty Bridge to Fairwater Yard. No.37218 and No.37259 arrived at 06:11 before collecting both of the Network Rail Snow Ploughs from Fairwater Yard (ZZA ADB 965231 & ZZA ADB 965209). The two veteran locomotives then formed the 7Z15 10:15 Fairwater Yard - Fairwater Yard via Highbridge Loop with the drift ploughs formed at either end of the locomotives. The annual snow plough test certainly raised a few eyebrows passing through the platforms at Taunton Station. The pair are pictured here passing Cogload Junction while working outbound to Highbridge in search of snow!

There were two firsts captured in this image at Cogload Junction on Sunday 6th May 2018, the largest gathering of Canal Barges ever seen (10 in total) and the first Sunday passenger service using GWR Class 800's. No.800033 leads No.800027 slowly over Cogload Junction flyover while working the 1C19 15:40 Reading - Taunton service, which had operated via Bristol Temple Meads. The train was slowed because a HST service had only just passed under the flyover also heading towards Taunton.
