13th May 2017
Thought to be the only operational Class 31 on the UK Network No.31452 from DC Rail collected Network Rail's Lorum Rail Grinder from Okehampton on May 13th 2017. Having already worked light engine from Bristol to Okehampton in the morning, the veteran machine is seen passing North Fitzwarren while working the 4Z02 Okehampton to Chaddesden Sidings with DR79401, 402, 403 and 404 in tow.

5th May 2017
DC Rail moved a band new Lorum Network Rail, Rail Grinder from Derby to Okehampton on the Friday May 5th 2017. Passing Taunton at around 20:30 the veteran Class 31/4 No.31452 is seen passing Norton Fitzwarren with the new four car grinder heading for the edge of Darmoor.

In fading light, Fragonset Class 31s No.31452 and No. 31602 'Devon Diesel Society' return Eagle Railtours charter 'The Cornish Explorer' through Norton Fitzwarren on 15th June 2018 operating the 1Z32 15:53 Penzance to Leamington Spa.

15th June 2002
Frangonset Railways Class 31s No. 31602 'Devon Diesel Society' and No.31452 round the curve at Creech St Michael on the 15th June 2002 operating Eagle Railtours 'The Cornish Explorer' charter. The tour operated as the 1Z31 06:29 Leamington Spa to Penzance taking passengers for an enjoyable ride into Cornwall and back.

17th May 1997
On a very foggy morning on the 17th May 1997 Class 31's No.31466 and No.31407 pass Taunton hauling 'The Pirates of Penzance' charter the 1Z63 21:53 (Fri) Preston - Penzance and St Ives. The tour organised by A1A Charters / Pathfinder Tours also used No.31450 & No.37375 between Preston and Swindon before switching to No.31466 and No.31407. The return trip was handled by Transrail Class 37 No.37674 and Mainline Class 31 No.31407 after No.31466 failed with flat batteries at Penzance.

1st June 1985
Ex Works BR Blue Class 31 No.31117 exits from Whiteball Tunnel into Devon on the 1st June 1985 hauling the 05:50 London Paddington - Plymouth mail / parcels service.

On an unidentified date around 1989, two BR Blue Class 31's power away from Taunton. No.31444 leads the duo and was named 'Keighley & Worth Valley Railway' at the time. The service is likely to be one of the summer season Rose Grove - Paignton services, which were frequently double headed by Class 31's.
