Colas Rail Freight continue to operate the weekly bulk cement flow from Tarmac's Aberthaw Cement plant in South Wales. On the 5th April 2018 Class 70 No.70807 hauls the empty PCA rake through Bathpool operating the 6B36 08:16 Mooswater - Aberthaw service.

First Great Western liveried HST No.43040 and No.43042 pass Bathpool on Sunday 25th February 2018 while working the 1C79 10:57 London Paddington - Penzance service.

While many of the Class 166's which have migrated to the South West are in GWR Green a couple still remain in First Great Western blue with pink doors. One such memeber of the Class is No.166202 which is pictured here on the 25th February 2018 passing Bathpool while arriving with the 2T33 10:04 Cheltenham Spa - Taunton stopping service.

12th February 2018
After light overnight snow had melted providing a clear crisp day Freightliner Class 66/5 No.66511 returns to Taunton passing Bathpool hauling the 6C73 12:22 Westbury - Fairwater Yard loaded HOBC portion on Monday 12th February 2018. The train operated via Bristol Temple Meads to turn the set so it was the correct way round for its next overnight ballast cleaning duty in South Wales.

Thursday 6th July 2017, BR Class 50 No. 50008 'Thunderer' operated from Exeter to Okehampton where it collected a Network Rail Lorum Rail Grinder. The locomotive formed the 4Z01 08:30 Okehemapton to Cheddesden Sidings and is seen here passing Bathpool on the retrun trip to the Midlands.

The UK Railway system can turn up some very unique and bizarre workings on the mainline. The old adage of 'never say never' couldn't of been any more true in June. Those who would of put money on three operational former British Rail Class 50's visiting Taunton in under two weeks of one another would of been in for a large payout. On the 29th June 2017, Laira Blue Class 50 No. 50008 'Thunderer' made a return to its former stomping ground in the South West by means of working the 4Z01 12:45 Chaddeston - Okehampton with a Lorum Rail Grinder in tow. The Grinder which has been purchased by Network Rail has been developed in America and will be used to train UK staff on the Okehampton branch. Thunderer is pictured at Bathpool with the remarkable working heading for Exeter and Okehampton.

DB Cargo provided a splash of colour on Saturday 22nd April 2017, with newly painted Class 66/0 No.66041 top and tailed with EWS liveried No.66024 while working the 6W11 14:40 Westbury - Bristol East Junction via Fairwater Yard. The trainload of new concrete sleepers are pictured passing Bathpool on the approach to Taunton.

8th April 2017
Saturday 8th April 2017 provided stunning spring day and a procession of trains heading to a weekend blockade between Bristol and Bath. Colas Rail Freight rolled out their newly delivered locos into service. Having been in the country for less than a month Class 70/8 No.70812 passes Bathpool hauling the 6C25 12:27 Westbury - Bristol East Junction running around 20 minutes behind schedule. The train set off a hot axle box detector (which turned out to be hot brakes) at Bruton and was delayed while the train was inspected.

12th October 1990
Finding a Network Southeast liveried Class 50 working departmental and infrastructure workings wasn't that uncommon on the 90's. Class 50 No. 50023 'Howe' passes Bathpool on 12th October 1990 with the 6C55 Bristol East - Exeter Riverside engineers in tow.

12th July 1988
On the 12th July 1988, BR Large Logo Class 50 No. 50016 'Barham' approaches Bathpool adjacent to Toneway with a loaded ballast train heading for Westbury. The train is likely to of originated from Meldon Quarry which at the time was providing several ballast trains a day from the Dartmoor out base.
