We have expanded our 'Memories Pages' with the addition of The Silk Mills Bridge. Although not strictly a railway item, the Bridge has had a large impact on photos taken from the area. Taunton Trains covered the event when the bridge was installed in April 2005. We have collated a wide selection of images taken in the area to illustrate the bridge construction and timescale's taken. We hope this will be a valuable addition to the Memories Pages.
As the 2009 RHTT Season draws to a close, we took the opportunity of some good sunlight to capture the Saturday diagram (3S13 Westbury - St Blazey) of the RHTT. Since October several Class 66's have been swapped on the set, however 66116 has remained since the beginning. On the 28th November 66116 passes Creech St Michael, weeks of water jetting rails means the locos and set are now plastered in mud. (Photo: Brian Garrett)
D1010 'Western Campaigner' was moved to Bishops Lydeard on the 25th November. The loco was sandwiched between D6566 and D7523 for the move from their Williton base to Bishops Lydeard. D1010 is slowly being returned to service and was inspected over the pit at Bishops Lydeard (something which can't be done at Williton). It's hoped we will see the locomotive returning to service during 2010. Although the WSR are offering no additional diesel diagrams to those previously operated during 2009! (Photo: Jeff Treece)

DBS Class 67's continue to operate the popular Taunton - Cardiff diagrams ahead of the December timetable change. Wednesday 18th saw 67024 removed from it's recent pairing with 67022, and replaced by the more common 67016. 67022 now leads to Taunton on the Southbound trips. On the 20th November 67022 is seen at Taunton having arrived with the 14:00 from Cardiff. In December this diagram will be worked by the Class 57/3 locomotives and more hired in stock. 37602 from Direct Rail Services made a very rare visit to Taunton on the 16th November. The locomotive worked a replacement RHTT set from York to St Blazey. The loco passed Taunton at 21:20 having been delayed in the midlands. Digital Photography has now reached the stage where it's possible to produce good images of moving trains at slow speed through the platforms. 37602 is seen passing through Platform 2 on route to Cornwall. Our Archive pages are always being updates, but this week we've bought them all up to date. We would like to thank Mike Rowland for his continuing efforts to record everything which passes through Taunton's Platforms. His weekly record sheets go a long way to providing a large database of workings for the future. We have also updated our 6V62 , and 6M37 workings pages to the current operational dates. After an absence of a few weeks, the Wiveliscombe Model Railway site is back on Taunton Trains. The layout has recently been out of commission due to a revamp and remodeling of track work to the fiddle yard area. The idea being to make the layout operable by fewer people and easier to assemble. The work is nearing completion so we have reactivated the relevant pages. Full details of the next exhibitions are now listed. Click on the image opposite to see more.
After several years of hard work from dedicated Bridgwater Enthusiasts, Taunton Trains is pleased to bring you the complete 6M67 - Bridgwater Flask LOG dating from 1987 through to the current day. The extensive log covers all areas of the operation in a similar fashion to the previous logs hosted in the archive sections of Taunton Trains. This log was put together from actual sightings and photographs recorded by Enthusiasts. We do need some help with tracing liveries of early locomotives. Click on the image opposite to see more.
Both locomotives on the Taunton - Cardiff diagram have been swapped recently. 67016+67017 have now been replaced by 67022 and 67024. On the 3rd November 67022 is seen at Taunton waiting to depart to 40 Steps with the ECS from the 2C89 19:00 Cardiff - Taunton. Here the set will reverse with 67024 leading the empty coaching stock back to Bristol Barton Hill. (Photo: Brian Garrett)
We hope scenes like this should soon be possible to view on a regular basis at Taunton. From the December Timetable change two daily loco hauled sets will be employed on duties through Taunton. DB Schenker are expected to operate between Cardiff and Paignton with their top and tail Class 67's, while First GBRF are the preferred bidder for the second diagram using hired in Class 57/3's on the current Taunton - Cardiff diagram. The two diagrams are expected to operate similar to the details listed below:
