This weekend marks the 50th Anniversary of the Barnstaple Line closure. The last train from Taunton to Barnstaple departed on the 3rd October 1966. The closure of the line was as a result of the Beeching Cuts which saw many local communities cut off from the railway network once the line was closed. A special Diesel Multiple Unit operated the final service along the length of the line on the last day of operation. Our Memories Pages contain more information and images from the Barnstaple Branch.
